LGA Books of 1998
Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to respond - and thanks to those who would have responded but...

Due to concerted reading by Great Smith Street's General Office, the most read book of 1998 is 'The Witch of Larbert' by Julieanne McCambridge; however, as you will see from the attached list we have read widely and wisely.

Reports in the press suggest that bookshops are doing good business at the moment; so do come to the next book club on TUESDAY 12 JANUARY and tell me what books you bought/received as presents over Christmas. See you then.

Secondment Opportunity
DETR have invited LGA to second a Policy Officer to help them draft the Urban White Paper. The secondment is likely to run from March until July 1999, and it might be less than full time, but the details are still for discussion with DETR.

Expressions of interest to Joan Jones in the first instance please, by 4 January.
